Abstract (EN)

Housing is not only a safe and comfortable living space for the elderly, but also a phenomenon that includes physiological, psychological, social, cultural and physical dimensions. In the old age,individuals want to live in their home where they feel comfortable and safe and in the environment they are used to. The aging of elderly individuals at home is defined as aging-in-place. In this study, which aims to reveal the features that the residences should have in order to ensure that the elderly people age-in-place in their old age, it is aimed to determine the needs, wishes and preferences of the individuals regarding the housing. In the first chapter, information from the literature about old age, housing models and current concepts related to old age is given. In the second chapter, information about the experimental study is given. In the third chapter, the findings obtained from the interviews and on-site determinations are given. In the fourth chapter, evaluations regarding the analysis results of the data are given. In the fifth chapter, the general results of the study are given. In the sixth chapter, the design principles to be followed in the new arrangements to be made in the existing houses of the users and in the housing projects to be designed for the users are presented and suggestions are presented. As a result of the study, it has been seen that the size of the space, the characteristics of the equipment and the organization are important in the residential use of the users.
