Abstract (EN)

Emissions from fossil fuels used in ship machinery increase their effects day by day. Yachts, which are one of the types of ships used for recreational, emit the same emissions to the atmosphere due to the fossil fuels they use in their main and auxiliary engines. The areas where these pollutants, which are produced by yachts and harmful to human health, are most concentrated are marinas and their surroundings. In this study, in order to make an anthropogenic emission inventory of yachts using fossil fuels in marinas and propulsion systems and to offer solutions which are lacking in the literature; Turgutreis D-Marin which located at Bodrum that own Turkey's busiest yachting activity arae and between 01 June and 31 August 2019, emissions caused by 2002 yacht activities in the marina, bottom-up approach used at the cruising and maneuvering modes of the yachts and by using ENTEC emission factors, were calculated for each boat separately for NMVOC, NOx, NH3, CO and PM emissions. The MVOC, NH3, NOx, PM and CO emission amounts created by yachts were calculated as 3,099 tons, 0.003 tons, 14,526 tons, 1,896 tons, 15,576 tons respectively. as a result of the calculation made, it has been determined that, motor yachts emit more than 21 times more NMVOC, 30 times NH3, more than 11 times NOx, over 20 times PM10-PM2.5 and 41 times CO into the atmosphere compared to sailing yachts, while motor yachts emit 19 times more emissions in total compared to sailing yachts.
