Abstract (EN)

Main aim of this research is to investigate effects of lecturing the units, "Electricity in Our Life", "Earth, Sun and Moon" and "Let's Wander and Learn Alive World", by slow motion animation technique on academic success, motivation and academic self-efficacy of 5th grade students. This research was performed for two weeks (48 hours) in 5th grade students in a public elementary school in Antalya at second semester of 2013-2013 academic years. In this research; control group is formed with 25 students of class 5/A, experimental group is formed with 24 students of class 5/B. In control group lecturing is done with lesson book of MEB, in experimental group lecturing is done by slow motion animation technique. Mixed research method which qualitative and quantitative research method both used is used in this research. "Electricity in Our Life Achievement Test" developed by Kazmazoğlu (2010), "Earth, Sun and Moon Achievement Test" and "Let's Wander and Learn Alive World Achievement Test" developed by researcher, "Motivation Scale" developed by Özerbaş (2010), "Academic Self-Efficacy Scale" adapted by Öncü (2012) and "Half-Structured Interview Form" developed by researcher are used in this research. Quantitative data is evaluated with independent group t-test, qualitative data is evaluated with frequency calculation. There has been observed an increase in students' academic success, motivation and academic self-efficacy through the courses that were taught via slow transition technique according to quantitative data analysis of the research. The difference between academic success points has been confirmed as meaningful on behalf of the experimental group of education quality, that is the sub dimension of academic self-efficacy scale, and in the unit of Let's Walk into the world of the living and Know them.
