Özet (EN)

stanbul, as well as its position in Turkey as a city which has been the cradle of many civilisations, is a special city which has shown cultural interaction and integration since the time of its birth. The Zeytinburnu district of Istanbul, due to the influx of migration, shows a different structure because it is a place which carries the distinction of being one of the oldest slum neighbourhoods and at the same time has a rich cultural diversity due to this immigration. On the other hand, it also carries the characteristic of being one the first areas of 'transformation' as part of urban regeneration. For these reasons, Zeytinburnu is the most suitable area for the investigation of 'Regenerated Cities Changing Citizens'. The aim of this thesis is to investigate the effects of urban regeneration on the lives of individuals living in the area. For this reason, in light of data collected from questionnaires from Zeytinburnu, Istanbul, an evaluation of the regeneration, adaptation of individuals to city life, expectations from a city, sufficiency of local authority services and approaches to regeneration was carried out. The effects of urban regeneration projects which have been almost completed and are now experiencing a period of 'regenerated urbanisation' on the cities and the people which inhabit them carry a different meaning and it is thought that this work will contribute to literature on 'urbanisation'. Keywords: Migration, City, Urbanisation, Urbanisation of Citizens, Social Change, Local Authorities, Urban Regeneration, Urban Transformation.
