Unions of local governments

Unions of Local Governments are the public legal entities constituted by the different combinations of the types of local governments by putting together the opportunities and strengths required to undertake some services expected from local governments but cannot be performed by any of them individually.This study aims to examine constitutions, evolutions, and current situations of Unions of Local Governments and their functionalities. It is observed that, in all the democratic countries, there has been a considerable increase in numbers and functions of union-type organizations among local governments.Villages, municipalities and private administrations of provinces are the public legal entities constituted for fulfilling the local requirements. Unions of Local Governments are the foundations that have ?the secondary position? beside these local administration units. That is, unions can be considered as supporting organizations to strengthen the local governments and to make them work collectively.Key Words: Local Governments, Unions of Local Governments, Union
