Abstract (EN)

This study aimed to examine deviant leisure tendencies, self-esteem and life satisfaction in adult individuals. The relationship between these variables and their differentiation according to demographic variables were examined. In the study, data collection was carried out face to face and online using the survey method. A total of 410 participants, 238 female and 172 male participants, were included in the study. Three scales, the Deviant Leisure Tendency Scale (Bedir, Önal, & Stebbins, 2023), the Self-Esteem Scale (Tafarodi & Swan, 2001) and the Life Satisfaction Scale (Diener et al., 1985), whose validity and reliability have been proven, were used in the study. The data were analyzed through IBM SPSS Statistics 23 and LISREL 8.80 programs. Skewness-Kurtosis Test was used to check normality distributions and Levene Test was used to determine homogeneity of variances. Since the data showed normal distribution, Independent Groups T-test was used to compare two groups, and ANOVA was used if there were more than two groups in order to determine the difference between dependent and independent variables. In order to calculate the difference between groups, Bonferroni tests were used when variance equality was achieved, and Tamhane's T2 tests were used when variance equality was not achieved (Kayri, 2009). As a result, while a relationship was detected between the variables of self-esteem and life satisfaction, while it was revealed that there was no relationship between deviant leisure time tendency and the other two variables, it was determined that all three variables differ according to demographic variables.
