Abstract (EN)
This study was conducted to determine the psychosocial care competence and compassion fatigue levels of intensive care nurses, to examine the relationship between them, and to determine the affecting variables. In this descriptive and correlational study conducted with 188 nurses working and participating in Şanlıurfa Training and Research Hospital between February and March 2024, data were collected using the Participant Information Form, Compassion Fatigue Brief Scale (CFS) and Psychosocial Care Competence Self-Assessment Scale (PBYÖDÖ). Descriptive statistics, Independent Samples Test, One-Way Analysis of Variance (Oneway ANOVA), Pearson Correlation Analysis and LSD post hoc test were applied in the analysis process. It was determined that 55.9% of the participants were between the ages of 26-30, 52.7% were male, and 71.8% were single. The total mean score of PBESÖ was found as 64.14±13.47, and the total mean score of MYKÖ was found as 68.73±23.70. When the relationship between PBESÖ and MYKÖ was examined; no relationship was found between them. (r:0.041; p<0.578). A significant difference was found between the information use sub-dimension of PBESÖ according to the marital status variable (p<0.05). A significant difference was found between MYKÖ and its sub-dimensions according to the gender and unit of employment variables (p<0.05). A significant difference was found between the "Secondary Trauma" sub-dimension of MYKÖ according to the age variable (p<0.05). A significant difference was found between MYKÖ and the ''Occupational Burnout'' sub-dimension according to the economic status variable (p<0.05). Within the scope of this study, a direct relationship was not found between psychosocial care competence and compassion fatigue. However, additional research is needed to examine the relationship between these two concepts in more detail. Keywords: Nurse; Compassion fatigue; Psychosocial care; Intensive care
