Struggle against poverty and aspect of poverty in Islamic religion

Poverty has been experienced ever since humanity existed. Policies have been implemented by many international and national institutions and organizations to prevent poverty. The reason why poverty originates may vary depending on the countries, as well as the way individuals perceive poverty. In the study, the ways of fighting poverty and poverty are tried to be explained within the framework of an economic and Islamic approach. It is point out the religion of Islam is more effective in preventing poverty because it has a rational understanding of economics that considers individual interests, and the religion of Islam has an understanding that considers society instead of helping each other. This situation may differentiate the struggle against poverty in the contrast of homo economicus and homo Islamicus assumptions. Within the framework of the Islamic approach, an approach towards eliminating poverty as much as possible is emphasized in many places in the Quran and Sunnah by taking care of the poor, desperate and needy people. The religion of Islam has many applications in order to prevent poverty. One of these practices is to give zakat and charity. Zakat is realized by taking the wealth of the rich people and transferring them to the poor. Alms is the financial aid of a person to meet the needs of the poor on his own will. In both, the aim is to meet the needs of the poor. Working and earning an income has an important place in preventing poverty. Interest is also banned as it causes poverty and increases the gap between the poor and the rich. In the study, it was emphasized whether the practices guided by the religion of Islam will provide efficiency in response to the inadequacy of the economic system currently followed in combating poverty, and the study was prepared by using the documentary source scanning method using the Quran and circumcision.
