Abstract (EN)

In this thesis, it is tried to explain the quotas applied for women's membership in the executive committees of the countries in the corporate governance legislation and the reasons for the quota recommendations that are not in practice but argued. The work focuses on the direct impact of economic, cultural and legal systems variables. In the study, four different models focusing on different quotations and quota recommendations were tested. Analyzes of these models were conducted on data from world bank data and from Hofstede's cultural dimension scores. A data set was created based on the existence of discussions on quota practices and quota recommendations in 47 countries' corporate governance legislation. In the models prepared for the analysis, economic indicators, legal systems and cultural dimensions are being tried to be effected on the quotas applied in the administrative boards. Analysis findings provide support for the effects of economic indicators on gender quotas in various dimensions. The legal systems have no effect on the quotas applied to the boards of directors. On the other hand, cultural dimensions seem to provide the expected effect on gender quotas. The logistic regression analysis findings provide evidence of the effects of economic and cultural variables on quota and quota recommendations. Keywords: Corporate Governance Legislation, Board of Directors, Gender Quotas.
