Abstract (EN)

Grounding Analysis of High Voltage Electrical SystemsIn order to protect the operating staff in high voltage electrical systems from dangerous step and touch voltages, the basic principles which are taken into account for the grounding of these substations are examined in detail according to Grounding Regulations in Electric Systems and IEEE 80-2000 standard. In this study, concepts of grounding electrode, step and touch voltages; and permissible voltage uses in the grounding system are clarified. In addition, the steps to be followed in grounding projects and methods of measuring grounding resistance are discussed.Consequently, the grounding resistance, step and touch voltages of high voltage substation are calculated and analyzed graphically by means of developed MATLAB program. By using the developed program the aim is to provide the step and touch voltages, at the grid design of grounding system, within permissible voltage limits.Key Words: Grounding, Step Voltage, Touch Voltage, Electrical Substation
