Abstract (EN)
For centuries, the improvement of unsuitable soils has remained a crucial challenge in engineering practices. Surface and deep improvement methods offer a broad spectrum of applications to enhance the strength and bearing capacity of such soils. In this context, this thesis study examines the effects of utilizing lime, cement, and rice husk ash, particularly in the enhancement of high plasticity clay soil. In the initial phase of the study, the fundamental geotechnical properties of the soil sample were determined. Subsequently, the soil sample underwent improvement through the separate and combined application of materials such as lime, cement, and rice husk ash. Following the implementation of these improvement methods, a series of experiments were conducted on the soil samples. These tests encompass compaction, unconfined compression, and CBR (California Bearing Ratio) tests. The detailed analysis of the obtained test results focused on the observed increases in the strength of the soil samples. The study examined the effects of different combinations and dosages of improvement materials on the bearing properties of the soil. The primary objective of this research is to furnish crucial information to enable more effective utilization of unfavorable soils in engineering applications. Such insights can contribute significantly to the formulation of ground improvement strategies in future infrastructure projects.
