Yüksek yapılar ve kent dokusu arasındaki ilişkinin araştırılması: Çalışma alanı olarak Beşiktaş/ İstanbul

In the thesis, the relationship between high-rise buildings and urban texture has been examined in conceptual and technical aspects, and it has been intended to analyze the contextual relationship of the high-rise buildings and urban texture. The relationship of high-rise buildings and the urban texture at Beşiktaş district of İstanbul have been examined by the use of visual and numerical data collected as the result of a field research. The study consists of five sections under this scope. In the first section, general briefing regarding the subject and evaluations has been provided, and the purpose and scope of the thesis, and the method followed-up in the performance of the study have been explained. In the second section, the concept of high-rise building, and general information with respect to the brief history of high-rise buildings have been provided. In the third section, the concept of the historical city, the high-rise building development processes in urban texture, and the relationship of high-rise building and urban texture of the world at London England, Paris France, Moscow Russia and İstanbul Turkey have been examined. In the fourth section, the relationship of high-rise buildings and urban texture at Beşiktaş district of İstanbul has been examined by the photographs taken considering the height, ratio and silhouette. In order to evaluate the relationship between the high-rise buildings of Beşiktaş district in İstanbul and the urban texture, there is a survey study and its results in which the opinions of architects and architecture students are asked. The fifth section covering the evaluation and interpretation of the information has formed the conclusion part. As per the research, it has been concluded that the relationship between high-rise development and the urban texture is weak. Today, the increase of city population triggers the increase and development of high-rise buildings. When the high-rise buildings are built in the city unplanned, it affects the urban texture negatively. However, if high-rise buildings are planned at a good upper scale, it provides the development of the city.
