Özet (EN)

The phenomenon of migration, which is among the common experiences of human history, is a characteristic of most societies in the world today. Every year, thousands of people leave the country where they were born and grew up for various reasons and set off for other countries. It is a matter of curiosity for researchers as to what reasons and expectations these people make the decision to migrate. In this study, following a similar sense of curiosity, the question of the reasons why Twitter users want to leave this country has been transformed into a research problem. On the axis of this problem, three key concepts such as "I will leave this country", "I want to leave this country", "I will leave this country" were first identified and then the research data were accessed through the advanced search engine on Twitter. The data obtained were interpreted with the interpretive content analysis technique. As a result of the analysis of the findings; it was seen that the phenomenon of violence is an important motivation for migration for Twitter users. It was observed that the fear of being a victim of crime due to the increasing cases of violence against women in Turkey in recent years was accompanied by a significant "desire to leave this country". It has been revealed that another factor accompanying women's motivation to go abroad is related to the legal system in Turkey. At this point, it was found that women think that the justice system institutions in Turkey fail to ensure women's safety. Victimization due to the patriarchal social structure in Turkey has also been found to shape women's motivation to migrate. In addition, the phenomenon of violence has also manifested itself as a motivation for migration in the desire of health workers, who are qualified labor force, to leave this country. Health workers cited low wages, unfavorable working conditions, intense workload, limited development opportunities, insufficient incentives and the need for prestige as motivations for migration. Parents with children cited "having children" as a critical motivation to move abroad. However, the economic crisis that has marked the last 3 years of Turkey's history has had a pushing effect on individuals' motivation to migrate. It has been determined that individuals see migration as a solution for higher welfare conditions due to the challenging conditions caused by the economic crisis. In connection with this situation, it has been observed that individuals experiencing financial difficulties experience a sense of relative deprivation and this emotional state increases their motivation to migrate. In addition to all these findings, the importance of micro-level factors for individuals in the decision to migrate has been revealed. It has been concluded that individuals' expectations for the future are an important component of their motivation to migrate.
