Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to determine the reasons why parents are sending their children to swimming classes and also the problems they encounter with. The survey group is formed by the parents of the 6-18 aged pupils who attended to the swimming classes of swimming teams in 2009. In total 517 parents, 267 women (mothers) and 250 men (fathers), participated in the survey.In the survey; a descriptive was used to discover the present situation. A poll was arranged to get the data. 620 questionnaire forms, 517 of which were returned, were given in this survey.The questionnaire forms that were collected by the researcher were checked and the ones that were filled inadequately or incorrectly were left out.As a statistic method, frequency, percentage distribution; Mann U and Kruskal Wallis H Test, which is not one of parametric statistics, was used to assess the data in the survey.KPA assertion points as dependent variables and demographic data in ?Personal Information Form? as independent variables were used in the survey.According to the survey results; the education and income level of the parents is effective on directing the children towards swimming sport and that the parents also do sports or interested in sports is effective on the children.Key Words: Parents, swimming, view, questionnaire
