Abstract (EN)

In this dissertation, Gd and Mn-doped ZnO (Zn1-(y+x)MnyGdxO , y = 0.01, x = 0.02, 0.03, 0.04) diluted magnetic semiconductors compounds were synthesized by the sol-gel method. The main purpose of this study is to investigate the structural and magnetic properties of Zn1-(y+x)MnyGdxO compounds. The structural and magnetic properties of Zn1-(y+x)MnyGdxO compounds have been investigated by using the X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Energy Dispersive X-Ray Spectroskopy (EDX) and Physical Properties Measurement System (PPMS). From the XRD analysis of the samples, it has been concluded that doping causes almost no change in the hegzagonal-wurtzite structure of ZnO. The SEM results clearly demonstrate that Gd and Mn ions integrate into the ZnO structure without any problem. The grains of the samples are very well connected to each other and tightly packed. Clear magnetic hysteresis loops indicates ferromagnetic are observed for Zn0.97Mn0.01Gd0.02O. Paramagnetism has been observed for all the samples at temparatures between 10 and 300K.
