Zonguldak forest regional directorate borders important medical and aromatic plant potential and market share in our country

Our country has a large number of medicinal and aromatic plants with its productive flora (all of the plants grown in a country or region). Plants contain the nutrients necessary for people to survive and are of great importance for health. Many herbs used in modern medicine have been used among the people in ancient times and have survived to the present day. As it is understood from the name of medicinal and aromatic plants, it is used in many areas in daily life thanks to its aromatic fragrances they contain in addition to its use in medicine. While medicinal plants are used in places such as food, cosmetics, body care, frankincense or religious ceremonies; aromatic plants are used as essential and sweetener. Aromatic plants have wide usage in many sectors. Turkey has a rich structure due to both endemic plant diversity. However, this richness cannot be fully utilized. Turkey features of medicinal and aromatic plants producing and using point, Turkey should be utilized as required richness of flora. Thus, while making a contribution to the country's economy, dependence on foreign countries will decrease. In this study, the definition and scope of medicinal and aromatic plants, Zonguldak Regional Directorate of Forestry limits for the general definition of the region within the morphological structure, soil conditions, population structure, vegetation, water resources, forests, agricultural structure, trade of medicinal plants, historical development, Turkey and world medicinal plant trade and plants such as laurel, lime, cranberry, rosehip, chestnut, pine nut and juniper were studied separately.
