Abstract (EN)

In this research, the role of valued living in difficult times was examined and it was aimed to explore the values and resources that strengthening adults in a cultural context. For this purpose, the research was designed with a mixed methods research (explanatory sequential design) model in which quantitative and qualitative research methods are used together. Correlational design was used in the quantitative stage of the research, and the grounded theory approach was used in the qualitative stage. In the quantitative phase of the study, a total of 493 adults aged 18-64 were reached. A total of 15 adults, who volunteered out of 493 adults in the quantitative stage, did not receive psychological support at the moment, and whose ValuedLiving Questionnaire (VLQ)score average was 52 and above and Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scale (DASS) score below 32, constituted the study group in the qualitative stage of the research. Apart from the Personal Information Form prepared by the researcher, three scales: Depression, Anxiety Stress Scale, Value-Oriented Life Scale and Connor Davidson Brief Resilience Scale (CD-RISC) were used as data collection tools in the quantitative phase of the study. In the qualitative stage, the Interview Question List in a semi-structured format developed by the researcher was used. In the analysis of the data, AMOS and SPSS 23.0 package programs were used in order to perform the mediation analysis at the quantitative stage. For this purpose, Pearson Product Moments Correlation Coefficient was calculated and Path Analysis was carried out from the Structural Equation Model. In the qualitative stage, the "MaxQDA" program was used in order to follow and examine the data analysis stages of the grounded theory. In the quantitative phase of the study, it was determined that depression, anxiety and stress had negative significant relationships with value-oriented life and resilience. Resilience, on the other hand, was found to have positive and significant relationships with value-oriented life. The indirect effect of resilience on the variables of depression, anxiety and stress over value-oriented life was found to be significant and this effect was calculated as 6%. As a result of the analyzes made for the qualitative data, it was concluded that in difficult times, values and resources protect and strength people like an shield. Among the indicators of power-giving values and resources; It has been determined that to be a good person, not to pollute the soul, to live a meaningful life and to stay alive and healthy. These values and resources; It has been determined that it is genetically inherited, acquired and learned by temperament characteristics, culture, important figures, education, media and life events. It has been observed that adults can stay strong by using strategies in emotional-cognitive-behavioral-social and spiritual dimensions in difficult times. All these strategies have led to a growth in the five dimensions mentioned in people after the difficult time. Keywords: Resilience, value, valued-living
