Obsesif kompulsif bozuklukta noninvaziv derin beyin stimülasyonuna yanıtı öngörmede elektroensefalografi bulgularının kullanımı
The aim of this study was to investigate the quantitative electroencephalography (QEEG) findings that affect the response to deep transcranial magnetic stimulation (dTMS) by examining the relationship between the pre-treatment resting-state QEEG data of obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) patients and their response to dTMS. To this end, the data of 52 OCD patients (mean age: 31.88±11.51 years, M/F: 23/29) aged between 18-65 years who applied to the Private Psychiatry Clinic of Prof. Dr. Kemal Arıkan (İstanbul, Turkey) between Jan 2018 and May 2019 and to whom dTMS was applied were retrospectively examined. The data were collected through sociodemographic and clinical data form, Yale-Brown Obsessive Compulsive Scale (Y-BOCS), Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), and resting-state EEG recording. Fourier analysis was performed by averaging across eyes-closed 2-second EEG epochs without artifacts, and for each of the 19 monopolar derivations, absolute power (μV2) was calculated for the delta (0.5-4 Hz), theta (4-8 Hz), alpha (8-13 Hz), beta (13-30 Hz), and gamma (30-70 Hz) frequency bands. By evaluating the pre-treatment and post-treatment Y-BOCS scores of the participants, patients with a decrease in the scores of 30% and above were named "responsive group" (n=42), and those without it were named "non-responsive group" (n=10), and the pre-treatment QEEG data of both groups were statistically compared. All statistical analyses were performed using IBM SPSS Statistics 25.0. P<0.05 was accepted to be statistically significant. The alpha and theta absolute power in all electrodes was found to be higher in the responsive group compared to the non-responsive group. No significant difference was observed between the two groups in terms of sociodemographic data and pre-treatment Y-BOCS_total, Y-BOCS_obsession, Y-BOCS_compulsion, and BDI scores. However, the time occupied by obsessions was found to be higher in the responsive group. In conclusion, it was revealed that the increase in the pre-treatment alpha and theta absolute power might be beneficial in predicting OCD patients who would respond well to dTMS. We suggest that use of such biomarkers can assist clinicians in individualizing OCD treatment and thus achieving optimal treatment outcomes. Temel oyunculuk eğitimi alan bireylerde kor stabilizasyon egzersizlerinin solunum fonksiyonlarına, gövde kas enduransına ve postural stabilizasyona etkisi
The aim of the study is to investigate the effects of a 8-week, core stabilization exercise program on respiratory functions, muscle trunk endurance and postural stabilization in individuals taking basic acting education. The study included 31 volunteer healthy actor candidate (18F, 13M; 27.17±6.02 years) who are taking basic acting education at DC Kozmos Art Academy between June 2020 - October 2020. The respiratory functions were assessed by the spirometer. Trunk muscle endurance was assessed by Fleksor Trunk Endurance Test (FTET), Biering Sorenson Test (BST) and Lateral Bridge Test (LBT). Postural stabilization was evaluated by Flamingo Balance Test (FBT) and Y Balance Test (YBT). The participants were randomly divided into two groups as Exercise Group (EG) (n=15) and Control Group (CG) (n=16). Both people in EG and CG were taken diaphragmatic training program according to BAE. The core stabilization exercise program was administered for EG, twice a week, 45 minutes a day and for a 8-week duration while CG was only evaluated in the begginning and at the end of the study. According to the main results of this study comparing two groups, EG and CG showed greater improvement in FEV1, FVC and PEF parameters, (p<0.05 for both EG and CG). EG showed statistically difference in FTET, BST and LBT while CG had improvement in only LBT(P<0.05). In FBT and YBT, EG had significant improvement while CG had only enhancement in right anterior and posteromedial side in YBT. Consistent with the hypothesis, our findings suggest that the core stabilization exercises were effective to improve respiratory functions, trunk muscle endurance and postural stabilization in individuals taking basic acting education. Key Words: core stabilization exercise, basic acting education, respiratory functions, trunk muscle endurance, postural stabilization.
Rezin simanlarin renk stabilitesi üzerine çeşitli içeceklerin etkisi
The purpose of this in vitro study was to investigate the effects of various staining solutions on the color of resin cements. 4 commercially available resin cements (Rely-X Ultimate Clicker Dual-Cured, Rely-X Veneer Light-Cured, NX-3 Dual-Cured, NX-3 Light-Cured) were tested. The specimens were immersed in 5 different solutions: cola, tea, coffee, red wine as test groups and distilled water as the control group. Before immersion, the initial color value of each specimen was recorded by using a spectrophotometer. Color changes (ΔE) were determined after 24 hours, 72 hours, 144 hours, 216 hours, and 288 hours of immersion. The CIE L*a*b*color space was used to identify color differences. At the end of 288 hours of immersion, the greatest color change (ΔE) was observed for the NX-3 dual-cured resin cement group immersed in red wine (ΔE=21.66±2.73); and the lowest ΔE value was seen when the NX-3 light-cured resin cement group was immersed in cola (ΔE=1.86±0.33). In all resin cement groups, red wine and coffee caused the highest the amount of staining and caused clinically marked color change starting from 24 hours immersion, whereas tea caused marked color change following 72 hours of immersion (NBS>3). All the specimens immersed in distilled water and cola did not show clinically marked discoloration. The effect of time, material, and solution factors on color stability levels of resin cements were significant. As the immersion time increased, the degree of discoloration of all resin cements also increased. The light-cured resin cements were generally more color stable than the dual-cured resin cements. Keywords: Resin cements, color stability, staining, spectrophotometer.

Diyarbakır'da et yeme kültürü ve cinsiyetçilik
In this study, it has been tried to examine the relationship between meat consumption and sexism of people living in Diyarbakır. Geography and climate factors that affect people's food choices, what social rituals mean for individuals, how the table culture is, what are the perspectives of food selection and especially meat in the context of gender are tried to be understood. The researcher made interviews with the participants using the method of in-depth interviews, apart from these interviews, researcher went to Diyarbakır between 2018-2019 and used these observations in the study. In this study, 17 participants between the ages of 25-60 were interviewed and discussed about table cultures, eating habits, domestic division of labor and social meanings of meat consumption. As a result of the study, it has been observed that the effect of climate, geography, social and religious rituals are fundamental in the formation of Diyarbakır's culinary culture, meat consumption is the main part of the cuisine culture, power and meat consumption are intertwined, so meat consumption is linked to gender relations. After trying to understand the relationship between meat consumption and sexism through in-depth interviews, it has been observed that there are two main reasons why people reduce meat consumption. The first is that high meat consumption is thought to negatively affect their health. The second is whether or not men are at home affects meat consumption. These results show that a relationship can be established between meat consumption and sexism.

Exercise is considered as one of the multidisciplinary additions to treatment programs, and it is recommended in the guidelines of many treatment protocols for the improvement of many impaired physical functions. Pain perception is known to be sensitive to various processes, therefore the amount and nature of the pain are not exclusively driven by the noxious input itself, but it can be influenced by psychological, mental, physiological and physical reasons. Proprioception is the feedback that is driven from sensation and recognization of external features and contributes to conscious muscle sensation, postural equilibrium, and joint stability. While balance can be defined statically as the ability to maintain a base of support with minimal movement and dynamically as the ability to perform a task while maintaining a stable position. The purpose of this study is to determine how can regular exercising affect pain perception, proprioception, and balance among healthy young subjects and to identify the nature of the correlation between those factors. 42 healthy participants were included in this study (21 athletes and 21 non-athletes). An algometer (push-pull baseline dolorimeter 66LB/30KG) was used for the evaluation of pain threshold and pain tolerance ratings, for proprioception repositioning accuracy was quantified through the active angle reproduction test (AART) for first, fifth metatarsals and ankle joints, and the dynamic balance was assessed by star excursion balance test (SEBT), while static balance tested by a single-leg standing test (SLST). The findings showed significant diffirences between athletes and non athletes in pain perception, proprioception and dynamic balance(p<0.05) so they are affected with regular exercise. While static balance showed not to be affected with regular exercise as there was no significant difference between groups (p˃0.05). Pain perception, proprioception and dynamic balance are influenced by gender (p<0.05), while static balance is not affected by gender (p˃0.05). A positive meaningful relationship was found only between Body mass index and pain perception among athletes group. Pearson Correlation test showed that there is no meaningful relationship between any of pain perception, proprioception or balance in both groups. İn a conclucion regular participation to different types of sports showed to affect on pain perception, propprioception, and dynmic balance⁏ but not static balance. An influence of gender on pain perception proprioception and dynamic balance but not static balance was releved. Also there was no meaningful correlational relationship between any of the evaluated variables. Keywords: Joint Position Sense, Pain Perception, Balance,

Neck pain is a very common problem in the general population and ranks second most frequently to musculoskeletal problems after low back pain. The aim of this thesis is to compare the conventional therapy, cervical stabilization exercise approach and core stabilization exercise in addiction to the cervical stabilization in patients with chronic neck pain. Our study was conducted on 45 patients with neck pain. Patients were divided into 3 groups by randomization method. Conventional therapy and isometric neck exercises to the first group (n=15), conventional exercise and deep cervical flexor training to the second group (n=15), conventional treatment and stabilization of the neck and core region were studied to the third group (n=15). The exercise programs were applied for four weeks, three days a week for 45 minutes. The demographic data of the cases in all three groups were recorded. Verbal Numeric Pain Scale was measured to assess pain intensity. The posture were evaluated using the Reedco's posture scale. Cervical ROM was evaluated using a goniometer. Neck Disability Index is a self-assessment form which evaluate the ability of patients with neck pain to perform daily activities. Health status assesed the SF-36. All data were analyzed by statistical method. The results showed a significant difference between groups (p <0.05). According to the findings, a significant improvement was found in pain, posture, ROM, NDI and SF36 values in all groups in the in-group evaluation results (p <0.05). When examined between the groups, pain and posture improved more in Group 3, while a more significant difference was found in ROM and quality of life in Group 2. A significant difference was found within and between all groups after treatment. In addition to conventional treatment, applying core stabilization exercises to patients with neck pain will be more effective in reducing pain, increasing range of motion and quality of life.
Verbascum bugulifolium L. üzerinde fitokimya ve biyolojik aktivite araştirmalari
The genus Verbascum comprises about 255 species in the Flora of Turkey. The flowers and leaves of some Verbascum species are used for the treatment of rheumatic disorders, eczema, spasmodic coughs, as an antiseptic and expectorant agent in different traditional systems. In this study, the antioxidant (DPPH•, ABTS• and CUPRAC), anti-inflammatory (LOX inhibition) and antimicrobial activities of the crude MeOH extract and its subextracts obtained from the aerial parts of Verbascum bugulifolium were investigated by in vitro methods. Among the tested extracts, EtOAc and n-BuOH subextracts exhibited the highest antioxidant activity in DPPH, ABTS and CUPRAC assays (IC50 = 20-90 µg/mL). The in vitro anti-inflammatory activity of the extracts was measured using a LOX inhibition assay where n-BuOH subextract provided a 35.7% inhibition at 50 µg/mL. The antimicrobial activity of the extracts was also evaluated against three bacteria and three fungal strains. Only the n-hexane subextract indicated remarkable antibacterial activity against P. aeruginosa ATCC 10145 (MIC = 125 µg/mL), while CHCl3 subextract showed moderate activity against C. krusei ATCC 6258 (MIC= 250 µg/mL). Subsequent chromatographic studies on the n-BuOH, EtOAc and CHCI3 subextracts yielded five iridoid glycosides [catalpol (1), specioside (2), ajugol (3), ajugoside (4), 8-O-acetylharpagide (5)]; two phenylethanoid glycosides [verbascoside (6), and glucopyranosyl-(1Gi-6)-martynoside (7)]; five flavonoids [luteolin (8), luteolin 7-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (9), luteolin 7-O-rutinoside (10), apigenin 7-O-rutinoside (11), quercetin 3-O-rutinoside (12)]; and one phytosterol [β-sitosterol (13)]. Compounds 2 and 6-8 elicited the equipotent or quite higher ABTS scavenging activity compared to the standard ascorbic acid in the range of 10-30 g/mL. Compound 6 showed the highest CUPRAC activity, which was as good as gallic acid with IC50=10 g/mL. Compounds 6 and 8 showed the highest antioxidant activity in all tests where 8 showed a relatively remarkable anti-inflammatory activity compared to other samples with 54.1 % inhibition at 1 µg/mL. All the tested compounds indicated weak antimicrobial activity against tested microorganisms. This is the first phytochemical and bioactivity study on V. bugulifolium. Key Words: Verbascum bugulifolium; Scrophulariaceae, secondary metabolites, iridoid glycosides; phenolic compounds; antimicrobial, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities

Aydın, S. (2021). The Effects of Maternal and Other Obesity Related Factors on Body Mass Index Among 2-6 Years Old Private Kindergarten Preschoolers. Yeditepe University, Institute of Health Science, Department of Nutrition and Dietetics, Master Thesis, Istanbul. Childhood obesity has become an increasingly important global problem. It is associated with some factors and if these factors can be intervened, its prevalence and incidence may be decreased. In preschool-age children, especially mothers are the role models of their children and responsible from their nutrition. Maternal feeding practices and other parent-controlled factors associated with obesity may have an impact on the child's development of obesity. This study aimed to examine whether maternal factors including breastfeeding, employment status, cooking at home and, other factors related to childhood obesity such as physical activity, stress factor and watching television affect the body mass index (BMI) percentile of preschool children, and to examine mothers' child feeding practices. 193 preschoolers, including girls (n=106) and boys (n=87) from four private kindergartens in Istanbul, and their mothers participated in the study. According to the results, there was a weak, positive relationship between maternal BMI and child's BMI percentile (r=0.263, p<0.05). There was a significant relationship between child's BMI percentile and daily TV watching time (p<0.05). There was a significant relationship between child's BMI percentile and the mother's thoughts if their children has excessive weight (p<0.05). Perceived child weight mean score of children with overweight BMI is significantly higher than the mean score of children with normal BMI (p<0.05). Mothers are effective on nutrition and weight of their children. Some child feeding practices and other factors also affect the BMI percentile of preschool children. Future studies can be conducted among mothers on feeding practices and how much they prefer which food groups.
