Investigation of the reflection of 0-6 years old child abuse on printed media

The research was carried out to examine the news of child abuse between the ages of 0-6, which was reflected in the printed media in the last five years. Since the research was carried out by examining the news in the media, it was carried out using the document analysis model, one of the qualitative research methods. While the universe of the research consists of news about child abuse for the age of 0-6, the sample is the news reached. In the research, as a data collection tool, a 16-item information form developed by researcher was used, and the information forms were filled out one by one for each article examined. The data collected within the scope of the research were analyzed by using the SPSS 24.0 program by converting them into frequency and percentage tables. As a result of the research, in the news reflected in the media in the last 5 years, girls were exposed to abuse, the average age of children exposed to abuse was 2.69, the children showed normal development, their parents were not addicted to substances, the family of children who were victims of abuse When their situation was examined, it was seen that their parents lived together, and when examined in terms of family nationality variable, the majority of them were of Turkish origin. When the data on the family structure were examined, it was concluded that the majority of the family structures of the children in the news were in the nuclear family structure and that their parents were responsible for their care. In the last 5 years, physical abuse has been reflected in the media the most, parents are the majority of the abusers, the news of negligence and abuse reflected in the media is not repetitive, the victim is in hiding / inability to express after the abuse, and the families have it was found that they behave in seeking help and that families' approaches towards their children are supportive / protective. Various suggestions were made according to the data obtained from the research.
