Abstract (EN)

As a result of the rapidly increasing world population, the increasing energy need has been met only with the use of fossil fuels until recently. In addition to the damage these fuels cause to the environment, the decrease in fossil fuel reserves and the increasing prices have made it mandatory to resort to new energy sources. In this context, the wind energy solution, which stands out compared to the other renewable energy sources, in terms of importance, has been evaluated as an option that is non-consumable and has high potential. This study will look into the design, modeling, and analysis of a synchronous generator with direct drive radial flux, a salient pole, and the permanent magnet to be used in wind turbines. The design of the generator bears the characteristics of an advantageous solution for wind turbines, considering its high efficiency at variable speeds, independence from the gearbox, high power, and ease of production and maintenance. This study aims to summarize the renewable energy sources, wind energy, wind turbines, and generator technologies used in the wind turbine, followed by the study of the main dimensions of the generator through analytical design calculations, in addition to determining the electromagnetic model input data of the generator. The study then will move on to create the modeling of the generator by way of the software based on the finite element method and ultimately, the electromagnetic behavior of the generator will be revealed. The saturation state of the material to be used in the production of the generator will be examined during the analysis and the heating characteristics of the material will be delved into in line with the analysis data. Using the design data obtained, a high-powered generator that is highly efficient and can be adapted to the constant and variable speed, enabling it to be used in wind turbines, will have been realized as a ready-to-use model.
