The study was carried out between November 2007 and March 2008. A standard questionnaire with the face-to-face interview method was applied for data collection. The questionnaire consisted of questions, asking in detail about sociodemographic properties, prolificacy characteristics, contraception use, level of knowledge about family planning, and contraceptive methods.According to the results of this study, mean age of women is 32.00, 34.63 for employed women and 29.71 for unemployed women. 62% of employed women have a high education level (university), but only 4% of unemployed women have this level and 82% have low education level (primary school and below). It is found that mean age at marriage is 20.96 years, mean age for the first pregnancy is 21.87 years, average number of pregnancy is 2.70, average number of birth is 2.16, and average number of children is 2.04. There was no significant relation for spontaneous and induced abortion between employed and unemployed women (p>0.05).86.7% of employed women and 75.3% of unemployed women practiced contraception. 83.1% of employed women and 62.8% of unemployed women practiced effective contraception. 33.8% of employed women preferred to use Copper T and condom with the same percent while 46% of unemployed women use withdrawal method and tubal ligation. The most commonly used contraceptive method was condom for health workers (43.2%) and officials (51.1%), and Copper T for cleaning workers (58.7%). It is found that the use of oral contraception causes loss of weight about 50 percent and Copper T causes bleeding. In this study, it is found that most of employed women (83.1%) use effective contraception. It is believed that if educational level and socioeconomic status of women is improved, the correct use of contraceptive methods will also be increased and a healthy society will be constituted. Keywords: Family Planning, Use of Contraception, Employed Women, Unemployed Women.
