Abstract (EN)
SUMMARY THE RETURN REASONS OF THE PEOPLE WHO HAD IMMIGRATED FROM ADAPAZARI AND RETURNED BACK AFTER 17 AUGUST 1999 EARTHQUAKE Keywords: Earthquake, Immigration, Urbanization. There is a continuous immigration trend to Adapazari not only from the other cities but also from foreign countries. This trend is the result of the being a centre of production and industry, the existence of fertile lands, the jeopolitic position and the climate conditions. Although the rate of immigrants has a very high proportion to the total population of Adapazari, Adapazari has a very strong traditional structure. Due to the fact that, Adapazari is located on a region which carries high risk of earthquakes, it has been affected by disastrous earthquakes throughout its history and has been badly damaged. 17th August 1999 earthquake caused tremandous material and otherwise damages. The psychological and social impact of earthquake was very high due to high rate of the damage mentioned above. Lots of people have immigrated from Adapazari with the motives of fear from earthquake, unemployment, problem of shelter. But most of them have returned back to Adapazari within a period of time. These people have had problems in complying with the social life of the city that They have immigrated. They couldn't find anyone sharing their happiness and problems. These people have decided to return to Adapazari where They had left their parents, relatieves, friends and neighbours. Precautions should be taken in order to minimize the material and otherwise damages and to reform the fair, equal and humane social relationships which had been upset because of the earthquakes. It is wise to keep in mind that the risk of an earthquake is very high and continous in Adapazari not to confront with the same problems with an potential earthquake. Vlll
