Abstract (EN)
It is seen that the history researches in our country have concentrated on our local history. Local historiography, which allows us to take a closer look at the cities, townships and villages of the Ottoman State, which are smaller settlements, is a part of the general mosaic that allows us to realize the history of the region we live in, as well as to realize the whole history of our region. The reflection of this increasing curiosity, especially in the history of the region, on academic studies develops a holistic perspective between the past and present of Anatolia. One of the local history sources that we obtained important information about the settlements of the Ottoman State in the 19th century is dividend books. The people who live in all settlements where the Tanzimat Edict is applied and who are liable for tax, real estate, land, animals and professions that generate income are recorded in these books. In this study, H.1260 and 1261 dividend books belonging to Yuntdağı Sub-District, which represents one of the four sub-districts of Manisa District, which is one of the administrative units of the Ottoman State, were examined. Our study aims to reveal the social, cultural, demographic and economic structure of Yuntdağı District, which consists of 7 sections and 71 settlements in these sections. It is hoped that valuable information obtained from the reviewed dividend books will contribute to research on Manisa history in a narrow sense, and to a large extent contribute to the social structure, administrative division, economic activities of the Ottoman Empire and the tax system in the broader sense.
