Abstract (EN)

After the Second World War, the expansion efforts of the USA and the Soviet USSR created a bipolar conflict area, and Turkey chose the USA side against the demands of the USSR regarding the updating of the Montreux Convention and the joint management of the straits with Black Sea countries in this bipolar field. Turkey-US relations have affected Turkey politically, economically, militarily and culturally over time, and Turkey has alienated from the principle of national independence and neutrality that started with the Atatürk era. This study consists of three chapters. In the first chapter, the changes in the political structure in Turkey in the post-Atatürk period, the taxes that were enacted after the Second World War and the reflections of these taxes on Turkish society, the new revolutionary policies that were tried to be realized in the cultural field and Turkey's position against communism were discussed. In the second chapter, Turkey's political stance during the Second World War and the reflections of this stance on its relations with the Western world after the war were emphasized, and Turkey-America rapprochement in the international arena, together with the US policy of establishing field dominance against communism, was discussed. The agreements signed between the two countries, foreign experts working in Turkey, the Truman Doctrine and the Marshall Plan and the economic aid provided by the USA have been the main issues affecting the socio-cultural life, which is the main subject of the thesis. In the third chapter, the increasing American influence in Turkey with the receipt of Marshall Aids and its implementation in Turkey are discussed, and the effects of this aids in fields such as education, agriculture, transportation, social life and cinema are emphasized. In general, with Turkey's turning its orbit to the West, it is progressing positively on Turkey, which lives in foreign policy and has these characteristics.
