The metaphor of loneliness in contemporary Turkish painting after 1950

The subject of this research is the Metaphor of Loneliness in Contemporary Turkish Painting after 1950. The aim of the research is to examine the Metaphor of Solitude in Contemporary Turkish Painting after 1950. In line with this purpose, Nevhiz Tanyeli's "İçe (The Bowing Man)", Aydın Ayan's "After the Departed ones/Anatolian Woman" and Neşe Erdok's "Waiting", which draws attention with the perception of loneliness in his figurative paintings in Post-1950 were selected in the scope of research and Contemporary Turkish Painting Expert opinions were taken with the interview form which were prepared according to Feldman's Art Criticism Model (description, analysis, interpretation and judgment stages). Nine experts participated in the research. The research is in the scanning model and has been patterned qualitatively. Within the scope of the study, a semi-structured interview form containing 15 questions prepared by the researcher according to the Feldman Art Criticism Model was applied to the participants in the electronic environment. The data obtained from the research were analyzed by content analysis. The collected data were analyzed separately by the researcher, these analyzes were compared and common views were evaluated in interpretation. Codes were created from the obtained data, and these codes were then converted into themes and turned into tables. The percentages and frequencies of the codes that emerged during the tabulation were calculated.According to the results of the research, it was concluded that the figures that were alone in the three works examined were easily matched with the concept of loneliness by the experts. It is seen that the experts match the concept of loneliness with emotions such as pessimism, sadness, pain, longing, helplessness, sadness, gloom, melancholy at high rates in three works.
