Abstract (EN)

With the effects of feminism that started with the demand for freedom after 1960, the woman in art with a masculine perspective, which revealed the woman's exterior and portrait works in post-1960 art, women began to disappear and created their own existence. With its content that deals with the portrait, which is seen as a representation of identity, with a deconstructive understanding targeting the dimension of 1960s feminism and pluralism discourses, and with new expression possibilities, it deals with this content as a woman. In the components of the thesis, definitions of the concepts of portrait, feminism, feminist art, woman, man, contemporary art, masculine, patriarchal, self-portrait and gender were made. In the related literature section, the issue of being a woman and being a female artist is discussed in the context of biological and gender. The state of being a woman, which is shaped within the framework of gender definitions of masculine power, has been questioned by female artists, and this situation has been questioned especially in the field of art by Linda Noclin, "Why Are There No Great Female Artists?" It was created based on the article. The relationship between representation and portrait was examined, and then it was researched how this relationship between representation and portrait changed in art after 1960. Related researches are in the section; In addition to the discourses of masculine power and gender definitions of female artists; How they approached the issues of being excluded from the history of art and being seen as the other, with the representational logic of the portrait, was examined. The works produced by women artists with a deconstructive understanding by reversing women, representation and portrait were examined. A classification has been made on the forms of representation by examining the basis on which female artists have created their portraits since 1960, and the foundations of this change have been examined through the portrait works in which they have discussed the representation of women with their own perspectives and new expression possibilities. In the findings and interpretation section, the issue of the representation of women as portraits has been tried to be evaluated by supporting it through my own portrait works.
