Abstract (EN)
The status of women in Turkey's social life has a different meaning for every different period. For each period, "how a woman should be" is defined in a reproduced gender role mostly by men in tune with that period. According to those gender roles, women have limits and rules to obey as a woman. Those rules and limits, especially effective on female body and sexuality, are made applicable by social institutions. Kurdish women, depending for several reasons, cope with subjects related to female body like virginity, sexuality, honour, sexual violence and marriage in different ways than the others. In relation to sexism, Kurdish feminists real struggle is against Kurdish men and they have an expectation of support from Turkish feminists fort this struggle. Another struggle for Kurdish feminists is against racism. At this point, the problem is the Turkish women movement that does not accept "Kurdish" feminism. Kurdish women with their "Kurdish" identity can not find a place in Turkish women movement and as a result of this exclusion, they build their own organisation. In this study, it is aimed to discuss Kurdish feminism developed on 1990's with other different feminisms in relation to body politics and the problems with Turkish women movement leading separate organisations for Kurdish feminists. At this perspective, the feminist Kurdish women magazines Roza and Jujin and as a popular feminist magazine Pazartesi, all of them published in late 1990's, will be analysed. Key Words: Body, Sexuality, Racism, Sexism, Kurdish Feminists, Kurdish Men, Turkish Women Movement
