Love discourse in Hollywood romantic films after 1990

This research is on the discourse of romantic love in happy ending Hollywood romantic films after 1990. Happy endings of romantic love belongs to the idea of happy ever after. One of the first tales about happy ever after is found in antique Greek myth, Eros and Psykhe. Fairy tales Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Sindrella, Rapunzel -which also can be traced back to antiquity- written by Grimm Brothers in 19th century have significant similarities with the myth of Eros and Psykhe. Myth of romantic love which origins back to antiquity was dispelled ideologically as the foundation of family in 19th century. Thus, this research questions the myth of romantic love in fairy tales as reinterpreted in Hollywood romantic comedies after 1990. Discourse analysis method is used to decypher the romantic love myth as thematized in todays Hollywood romantic comedies. As a conclusion it is claimed that myth of romantic love is re-produced by Hollywood romantic comedy films after 90s as adapted to the contemporary metropolitan life,
