Abstract (EN)
AIM: 2-8 age group children with normal language development in Preschool Language Scale-5 scale, which is made of the additional Articulation Screening Scale normalization work. The results to be obtained with this study in the evaluation of children with articulation skills are targeted for screening can be used as reference. INTRODUCTION: Children in their own language phoneme recognition and extraction of these phonemes to form words and sentences with correct intonation are required to bring together examples. Early diagnosis of language and speech disorders in children is very important. There are some tests for evaluating articulation skills of the children in our country and outside the country. However; PLS-5 Articulation Screening Scale is helpful for screening and diagnosis in terms of easy availability after the test of language development and testing in a short time. METHOD: With the permission of Kayseri Provincial Directorate of National Education, the study was carried out with no additional disease and 330 healthy children with normal language development of primary and nursery school of the Directorate of National Education. Firstly, with the Children's Assessment Information Form containing demographic information for each of the children, the general profile of the children were determined. After the evaluation forms, acorrding to the story of any families and Information Form, children with hearing and speech problems and an additional illness or disability were excluded from the study. The decision on the inclusion of children with auditory perception and expressive language development was assessed by Preschool Language Scale-5. The children with auditory perception and expressive language development skills were included in the study and articulation skills were evaluated by Articulation Screen Scale. RESULTS: The data were analyzed by SPPS 15.0 package program. In the comparison of two independent samples, student t-test and one-way analysis of variance of more than two independent samples comparison (Post-hoc tests: Tukey) were used. P <0.05 was statistically significant. The relationship between categorical variables were evaluated by ki square analysis. While of the surveyed children's articulation screening scale total score compared by gender in each age range was statically insignificant (p>0.05), there is a statistically significant difference in favor of girls without the age group of boys and girls (p = 0.009). CONCLUSION: A reference has been established to assess the articulation skills in children. In our country, normalization of a test that can be used to screen the children with articulation disorders was made. It is expected that children's articulation skills are tested by Articulation Screening Scale, the Turkish version of a new test. Moreover it is hoped that children are directed to the appropriate place for early diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of the children with articulation disorder.
