Abstract (EN)

Since its widely-agreed upon founding on November 14th, 1914, Turkey's cinema has witnessed many historical, communal and socio-cultural evolutions. These evolutions have repeatedly influenced Turkish cinema, both directly and indirectly. Because of this, over time, Turkish cinema has reflected the developments of the society around it. Until the 1960s, one will find that Turkish cinema did not possess a great deal of diversity. After the 1960s, however, increasing audience numbers led to an increasing diversity within Turkish cinema. In the subsequent decades, certain varieties of cinema would rise and fall in prominence as the social structures changed. When researching film production since 1960, one can see that every decade had its own unique production style. Accordingly, the numbers of films produced in a certain style would change every decade. The most produced style of film is directly related to the communal living and political atmosphere of the period in which the film was produced. By the year 2000, the political and socio-cultural status of Turkey had changed significantly. Particularly since the dawn of the new millennium, in light of developments such as globalization and postmodernism, Turkish cinema has switched to the practice of divided production. Furthermore, the possibilities created by developing technology and increasing access to technical facilities has further increased the diversity of productions. This increase in the diversity of cinema produced increased not only the artistic content of Turkish cinema, but also but also led to increased pressures regarding successfully selling a film to an audience, thereby further increasing the importance of effective marketing. Hybrid genres (cross-genre) composed by the interaction of different movie genres with each other . In the movies, more than one genre began to be seen. Due to multiple genre indicators in a movie, interaction between genres began. So, determining the genres of the movies was difficult and films have started to be identified by two or three or more genres names.
