Abstract (EN)
In this study, the present state of the Primary School 6th Year New Social Sciences Curriculum put into practice in the 2005-2006 education year and the problems faced with were evaluated depending on the views of Social Science teachers. The sample of this study consists of 39 Social Science teachers working at the pilot schools in Ankara. Within this study, as a data collection instrument, a questionnaire designed by the help of the teaching staff of the Department of Social Science Teaching and experts from EARGED was used. The data collected were analysed by the techniques of number of subjects (N) according to independent variables, percentage (%), Chi Square (x2), variance (F) and t-test using the SPSS. In the research, the significance level was accepted to be 0.5. At the end of the study, according to the results gained from the teacher views on the gains, contents, application and evaluation processes of The Primary School 6th Year New Social Sciences Curriculum and the relevant findings, in general, no significant differences were found between the Social Sciences teachers in terms of their views on the new curriculum. However, it was found out that there were some problems the application of the curriculum.
