Abstract (EN)
n this thesis, the performance of football teams which participated in 2006 world cup has been evaluated by stochastic frontier analysis. To evaluate the performance of teams, three econometric models related with goalkeeper, defence and attack positions have been constituted. In these models, technical efficiencies of teams have been estimated via the usage of FRONTIER 4.1 computer program. By taking the averages of technical efficiencies in models, average technical efficiencies have been achieved for each of the teams. Teams have been ranked according to their average technical efficiencies and validation of this ranking has been tested by comparing it with tournament ranking results. It has been observed that the ranking achieved at the end of analysis is compatible with tournament ranking.
