The effect of child-parent relationship training on parenting stress and parent-child relationship in mothers of 3-10 years old orphan children

The purpose of this study is to examine whether child-parent relationship therapy training has an effect on the parental stress and mother-child relationship levels of mothers of orphaned children. In order to determine the stress levels of the mothers participating in the study, the Parenting Stress Scale (PASS) was used. Parent Child Relationship Scale (PCRS) was used to determine the relationship level of mothers. The model of this research is a weak experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group. The independent variable of the study is the intervention method applied; The dependent variables are parental stress and parental relationship levels. A total of 20 mothers of orphaned children were assigned to the experimental and control groups of the research. Mothers were reached through Şahinbey Municipality Hamiyet Center. 10-week child-parent relationship therapy sessions were conducted with 10 mothers in the experimental group in the Şahinbey Municipality conference hall. Parametric tests were used in the analysis of the quantitative variables of the research. When the data obtained as a result of the research were evaluated, it was determined that there was a significant difference in favor of the post-test in the negative parent-child relationship subscale results for the experimental group participants. When the stress level pre-test and post test results of the experimental group were evaluated, it was seen that there was a significant difference against the post-test. When the experimental and control groups were examined, it was found that there was a significant difference in favor of the experimental group when the post-test results of the experimental group and the control group were compared in the positive parent-child relationship sub-dimension and negative parent-child relationship sub-dimensions. However, when the stress level of the mothers of the experimental group is compared with the participants in the control group, the post-test results have a significant difference against the experimental group.
