The determination of some anthropometric measurements about pre-school students that are 36-72 months old (Diyarbakir city example)

The main goal of this study was to determine anthropometric measurements of preschool students (range of 36-72 months) located in the city of Diyarbakır. After obtaining the necessary permissions from Diyarbakır Provincial Directorate of National Education, parents were administered a questionnaire to determine the demographic characteristics and also students anthropometric measurements were taken. According to the boys and girls group, data were obtained in standing and sitting positions. Then, statistical analyzes were performed on this dataset. The obtained data in the framework of this study has been tested for reliability analyses. Then for the purpose of giving the decision of which statistical method will be use, whether measurements distribute normal or not in reliability range of %95 by SPSS21.0 statistical program.Primarily identifying statistics of provided data (arithmetic average,standart deviation,variance, minimum and maximum values etc.)has been done to classification of parameters used in projection aims. The correlation constants has been determined to specify the relation between the measurements. 11 hypotheses has been created to definiton of relation between some demografic properties that could have effect on anthropometric measurements kinds which has been measured in this study and childrens' anthropometric measurements. The hypothesis tests has been realized by using the statistical test methods which are convenient to the structure and properties of collected data. As the result of aplied tests there are effect of children's month age on all of the anthropometric data; there are partial effects of gender, parents' education grade, existing of permanent disease on antropometric measurements; there are no any effects of total count of children in the family, the ranking of child, count of individuals living together in family, Income level of family and the age of parents on on antropometric measurements. the average weights and average hieghts of theese collected data has been compared to average weights and average height of children lives in Turkey and Ankara both.As a result, this study is very important because of two main reasons. First, this study was directly conducted for pre-school students. Second, showed the impact of demographic characteristics to anthropometric measurements. Therefore, this study has contributed to our country's anthropometric database and also will provide a base for similar studies.
