The effects of toy-based home training programme over the four years old children on concept acquisition

This research has been done to look into the effect of The Toy-Based Home Training Programme over the four years old children on concept acquisition.The sample group for the research totally consists of 60 families living in Malatya, at low-middle- high SES. These families who have four year old children (37-48 month) have been divided into two groups equally, one as the experiment and the other as control group.In the research to collect data, ?Concept Acquisition Scale for Four Years Old Children?, developed by the researcher, has been used. In the first part of the measuring Scale, there is demographic information about the parents of the children and in the second part there are 6 sub-tests including (measuring) items related to concept acquisition. This scale has directions and a toy kit for the toys which are used with these directions. The scale has been applied by the researcher working with children.In the research, primarily, a pre- test has been applied to the experiment and control groups. After this application, the families of the experiment groups have been given an eight-week ?Toy-Based Home Training Programme?, which has been prepared by the researcher but nothing has been done with the control group. After eight-week programme, the children in both groups have been given post-test.At the end of the research it has been noticed that the point of experiment group to Toy-Based Home Training Programme has been applied, are considerably higher than the ones of the control group. It has been concluded that this programme is effective on children concept acquisition. There has been no differentiation effect of ?Toy-Based Home Training Programme? to the children concept acquisition and the factors such as, monthly income, sex, number of the members living with family, education of mothers and their working or non-working positions.Key Words: Concept, Concept Acquisition, Toy, Toy-Based Training, Family Training.
