Abstract (EN)
Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between successful aging, quality of life and daily living activities in individuals over 60 years of age. Materials and Methods: In this cross-sectional descriptive study, a questionnaire was applied to 258 people aged 60 years and older who were registered at the Family Health Center No. 1 in Yunusemre District of Manisa. Sociodemographic data collection questionnaire, Successful Aging Scale, Short Form SF-12 health scale, and instrumental daily living activities scale were applied to individuals with face to face interview technique. Results: There was a significant relationship between successful aging levels of the patients and sociodemographic characteristics (age, gender, education level, socioeconomic status, disability status) (p<0.01). There was no significant difference between marital status, living environment, body mass index, having children, presence of chronic disease and successful aging level (p> 0.05). There was found a significant positive correlation between IADL, Short Form SF-12 Health Scale levels and successful aging (p <0.001). Conclusion: Directing people aged 60 and over to active lifestyle changes is important in terms of preventive medicine approach in primary care because of its contribution to maintaining cognitive functions and reducing care needs.
