Abstract (EN)
The preschool period covers the period when children develop most rapidly and acquire daily life skills. Children's ability to fulfill their developmental tasks in a healthy manner forms the basis for their future lives. In this sense, the acquisition of self-care skills to the expected extent allows the child to meet their own self-care needs and physical needs without the help of adults, while allowing the child to continue their life more independently. It is expected that the measurement of self-care skills, which are critical for children's future lives, will increase the efficiency of the process. Based on this point, "Validity And Reliability Study Of The Self-Care Skills Scale Parent Form for 61-72 Month-Old Children" was conducted in order to determine children's self-care skills. The study group consists of parents of 327 children aged 61-72 months who attend preschools in the city center of Kütahya using the purposive sampling method. A personal information form and a scale developed by the researcher were used to collect data. The scale is in 5-point Likert form and consists of 38 items. In the analysis of the data obtained from the parents, descriptive statistics and factor analysis were applied for structural validity. Cronbach's alpha test was applied for the reliability of the scale. When the findings were examined, it was determined that the scale consisted of 6 sub-dimensions and the total variance value was 57.53%. As a result of the reliability analysis, the Cronbach Alpha coefficient of the scale was found to be .93. As a result, it was found that the "Self-Care Skills Scale Parent Form for 61-72 Month-Old Children" was a valid and reliable measurement tool in determining children's self-care skills.
