Abstract (EN)

In this thesis, It is aimed to examine the efficiency and the ability to answer the expectations for the old and new geography curriculum of the 9th grade which had been started to apply from the 2005-2006 academic years. This study was administered in Elazığ in term 2008 through selected secondary schools in the city and towns. The survey was applied on 56 geography teachers employed in different schools of Elazığ. 28 questions on the old (before 2005) and recent geography programs were asked to the geography teachers to observe and test the approachs on the both program. The data were collected in prepared survey, aims to comparise the planned goals, contents, learning period and the evaluation of both geography programs.The mean and standart deviation of the points appeared as consequence of the views of teachers about each substance were calculated seperately bu using statistical programs. Besides, the planned goals, contents, learning and evaulation periods of the both curriculum were examined with the statistical tests (Variance analysis, t ? tests) according to the teachers seniority, gender, employeed school and whether participated a seminar or not. Finally, the teachers view has concentrated on the present geography program to be as, the student centered curriculum, convenient to use recent learning technologies and it has more effectiveness than the old one
