Abstract (EN)

Abdullah Öztemiz Hacıtahiroğlu (1929-2015), although his main profession was a doctor, is a person who devoted his life to classical Turkish literature, known as traditional literature. In addition to his research in the field of classical Turkish literature, he is seen as a great poet who kept this tradition alive in the 20th century because he wrote poems in aruz prosody. The poet, who wrote poems in classical and traditional style from the age of 17 until the last days of his life, published some of the poems in various magazines and collected them in the books titled "Sessiz Gürültü"(Silent Noise) and "Kendimle Göz Göze"(Eye to eye with myself). In addition, he has research articles published in various magazines in which he talks about Divan poets who lived in various centuries and the understanding of literature of their periods. His verse satires titled "Mayın Tarlası"(Minefield) and "Isırgan Çiçekleri"(Nettle Flowers) important because they are witnesses to the period in time which Hacıtahiroğlu lived and are written in aruz prosody. Hacıtahiroğlu became the Nef'î of the 20th century with his harsh style in his satires and his talent in writing satire. In addition to his poems, satires, and his research on divan poets and poetry, he published "the Anthology of Religious and Moral Poems in Turkish Literature" and "the Anthology of Poems to the Prophet Muhammad, Na'tlar", which are compilation of classical Turkish poetry. His great contribution to the world of literature is that he translated the first 2531 couplets of Mevlânâ's Mesnevi using the work's own pattern and compiled it into a book called Selections from Mesnevi. For those who think that classical Turkish literature has ceased and there are no poets to continue it, Abdullah Öztemiz Hacıtahiroğlu himself demonstrates with concrete examples that the tradition continues with the poems he wrote in aruz prosody and his works. In the words of Yahya Kemal Beyatlı, this torch will pass from hand to hand until the end of time.
