Abstract (EN)

This investigation has been done with the aim to be descriptive of the patients applying emergency service as a complainant of the stomachache and the implementation of their relatives and by themselves, and the effects of those to the diagnosis. One hundred patients appealed with the stomachache to Emergency Service of Kütahya Evliya Çelebi Devlet Hastanesi between December 20,2006-February 20,2007 have been generated the examples of this investigation.?The Information Form of Patient? contains parts; the socio-demographic properties of patients? ?Personal Information? features of ache ?Information Related Pain? the determination of the steps of the treatment applied in emergency service and the applications made before the appeal to the hospital ?Implementation? the process of observation of patient after the diagnosis ?Prognosis? had been used as a tool to collect data. The data which obtained as a result of the investigation has been evaluated with using SPSS 13.0 Windows Packet Programme and the technique of Chi-Square.It has determined that the diagnosis obtained from the patients and its result to the age group are appropriate to source and this result has found highly significant statistic (p<0.001).When we analyze the attitudes of patients towards stomachache according to the age group, it has seen that the old patients apply traditional applications mostly and are the smallest group appeal to the hospital. With the statistic investigation the relationship between the patient's attitudes towards stomachache and the age groups has seen significant (p<0.05).When we analyze the patient's coming period and if the complication appears or not after the diagnosis, it has seen that the advanced level complication has occurred in the group which reached to the hospital in 6 hours or more. Besides, it has seen there has been no complication in the group reached to the hospital in 0-2 hours. According to this result, there is a significant relationship between the patient's coming period and complication (p<0.05).When patients? coming period and the applications are compared it is seen that people whose education level increased, go to hospital in a short time and if the education level is decreased they apply traditional methods much more. With reference to the correlation between this period, application and their education levels that seems highly significant statistic (p<0.001).When we examine the relation between patients? attitudes during the stomachache and whether the complication is develop or not after the diagnosis, it seems that complication-developed group applies the traditional methods and this result seems significant statistic too (p<0.05).Hereby, it is determined that patients? ages and their education levels affect their behavior during the stomachache; and the techniques used traditionally , and not getting on the right time exacerbate the illness?s access and cause complicationsKey words: Abdominal pain, emergency department
