Abstract (EN)

The ancient city of Adada is located within the boundaries of Sağrak Village in the Sütçüler district of Isparta and is known as a significant transitional point between the regions of Pisidia and Pamphylia. Referred to as "Karabavlu" by the local population, the site has been the subject of various scholarly investigations over different periods. On the southern slopes overlooking the valley, multi-storeyed residential structures positioned on terraces illuminate the architectural practices of their time through both spatial organization and construction techniques. In this study, structures identified as having a residential function in the ancient city of Adada are examined within the framework of key elements such as architectural planning, building material usage, wall construction techniques, and water management systems. Despite the dense vegetation, these buildings remain largely well-preserved and are particularly noteworthy for their indicators of social status, suggesting an association with the aristocratic class. The residential area is situated on the southern slope of the valley, southwest of the agora, and was shaped using a terracing method. These terraces were reinforced with retaining walls, upon which the houses were constructed in a multi-level arrangement. The data obtained demonstrate that the planning of the houses in Adada, their water management systems, and their multi-storeyed architectural layout reveal not only the technical knowledge of the period but also the socio-economic structure capable of implementing such knowledge. These residences, therefore, transcend their role as mere physical entities and serve as vital sources documenting the region's historical and social continuity. Within this context, the study explores the architectural features of these residential structures and highlights their contribution to the city's social structure.
