Abstract (EN)
This research focuses on Tomato spotted wilt virus (TSWV), the causative agent of disease in pepper plants (Capsicum annum L.), a significant vegetable species. Despite the importation of materials claimed to be resistant, TSWV infections have been on the rise, with this virus identified as the primary factor contributing to the increased incidence of infections in our country. Additionally, the study explored the genetic resistance of local pepper populations, which have not undergone improvement, against Tomato spotted wilt virus (TSWV). The study investigated the genetic resistance of local pepper populations to Tomato spotted wilt virus (TSWV) and subsequently introduced these resistant traits into the country's agriculture. To achieve this objective, the research examined various populations, including Karaisalı/Salbaş (tomato paste), Kahramanmaraş (powdered pepper), Şanlıurfa (İsot), Diyarbakır bell pepper populations. Additionally, improved varieties such as Sena, Dila, Hayriye, 134, 124/1, 124/2, 171, and CM334 were also included in the study. We studied the genes of different types of peppers to see which ones are resistant or sensitive to diseases. We found out which genes dominate and how they combine (RR, Rr, rr). The results will be shared with local breeding companies and used to improve pepper varieties.
