Abstract (EN)
Spinach downy mildew disease caused by Peronospora farinosa f. sp. spinaciae has been widely seen in many frequent sown production areas in fall and spring seasons. In this study, race detection has been done in spinach cultivation areas, particularly in Adapazarı and Osmaniye provinces. As of 2017, it is known that in the world Peronospora farinosa f. sp. spinaciae has 16 races. In the region where spinach cultivation has been made up to now in Turkey, the disease increase and occurence of these races has not been determined. In this study, leaf samples collected from 205 fields in Adapazarı / Pamukova and Osmaniye / Kadirli regions during autumn and winter spinach production seasons of 2015 - 2016, and in order to race detection trials were set up with differantiel varieties in same regions. As a result of the farming surveys in the period of 2015 – 2016, disease severity was determined as 9% in Kadirli, 13% in Pamukova and 12% in totally. According to the spinach experiment results was made in 2015 in Adapazarı / Pamukova, race 12 of the spinach mildew race was observed. Also according to the spinach experiment results was made in in 2015 in Osmaniye / Kadirli, race 8 of the spinach mildew was observed. The application of integrated disease management programs where different struggle strategies are used together instead of a single control for the control of soilborne spinach downy mildew disease was once again determined in this study. Preference of resistant varieties against spinach mildew races identified in the regions has been encouraging for the disease control. This study was supported by SYNGENTA.
