Folk beliefs and practices Afyon-Bolvadin and surroundings

Human beings always need to believe in something during all periods of history, so religion acts in the stage of history with people for ages. Humans have been living with religion. These people add their national beliefs, traditions and behaviours to the religion. Folk beliefs become by this way and become a part of society. Folk beliefs have also been common values and practices of society. Folk beliefs are very important, because they help us to undertand and know a society. Provided the fact that, an evaluation of a society cannot be completed without beliefs, every part of society must be searched as a whole. This ma thesis, `Folk Beliefs and Practices Afyon-Bolvadin and Surroundings?, aims to determine beliefs and traditions of this region people. Practices about these are also explained.Our study consists of an introduction, four chapters and a conclusion and about illustrations related to the subject.In the introduction chapter, descriptions and evaluations of folk beliefs are explained. It is informed about aims, importance and restraints of the research. This part also includes principles and methodological information of the study.In the first chapter, it is given information about occurence of folk beliefs and their features.In the second chapter, it is informed about geographical location of Bolvadin. Social, humanities and economical conditions of Bolvadin is also explained. Then the source of the name ` Bolvadin ? and history of Bolvadin is told.In the third chapter; Folk beliefs of Bolvadin and surroundings is explained in parts of daily life, important periods of life, health, nature and heavenly body, animals, visiting places. Then practises are explained.In the fourth chapter, there are informations about common tales and impressed the mind of people.In the conclusion chapter, an evaluation of the study is done.
