Abstract (EN)

Radon which is contains %50 of radiation we are are exposed in daily life and in the decaychain of Uranium available in rocks and soil , is a colorless, odourless and a radioactive gasthat can not be observed by human sense. The Radon gas produced by the decay of U238 inrocks diffuses into soil and then into atmosphere or environment. When accumulates in closedlocalities or in unventilated places Rn concentrations may reach to critical values. Whenradon absorbed in high dose it can create a lot of ricks especially lung cancer risk. Thus the222 226number of research on the measurement of Rn and Ra concentration has increasedespecially in water which is one of the main necessity for humanbeing222 226The main goal of this work is to determine Rn and Ra concentration on thermal watercollected around Afyonkarahisar region. The samples were collected from wall in differentperiod and they have been analysed using AB-5R type radon detector developed by PylonElectronics. The results obtained from this work for radon ranged from 0,085-73.62 Bq/L and for radium0,062-2.97 Bq/L.Keywords: Radon, Radium, thermal water, Pylon AB-5R dedectoriv
