Abstract (EN)

In this study, Op 23. Piano and 4 Folk Song for Bariton was examined in the light of musical works for piano and human voice of Ahmed Adnan Saygun who has lots of contributions which cannot be denied for the Turkish Music, based on Turkish Music Culture in Republic period. Saygun's composition side was explored together with modern music, music of twentieth century and nationalism in music, while the musical works were examined. Composer was sent to the abroad on the early years of Republic. Musical works which were produced with his West Classical Music education and artistic personality were tried to examine. Nationalism which is set the ball rolling a set of social improvments in the later nineteenth century shows itself almost all branches. Each performer who is adopt nationalism in the center of universal norms had used their own national figures as a source of inspiration in their artworks. While they are creating their styles, they did not isolate themselves from the society they lived. Political developments in the society, history, traditions and educations which Ahmed Adnan Saygun got from the abroad are the important factors for the formation of his composer language. In the context of national polyphonic music, when he returned the country, he headed toward his traditional music with ethnomusicologist, researcher and academician identity and he took advantage of traditional figures for his almost all musical works. He used Turkish Folk Music in his musical works and he treated these works with their self feature and secular mode of articulation. Also, he used lots of these works as educational tools in the formation of national polyphonic music. Key Words: Ahmed Adnan SAYGUN, Piano Singing, Op. 23 4 Folk Song, Contemporary Turkish Music.
