Abstract (EN)

There are important effects of wind on evaporation, which is an important parameter of ecosystem and hydrological cycle. Therefore, determining the historical changes in wind will help to determine the level of these effects. For this purpose, in this study, the trends of monthly wind speed data of 34 meteorological observation stations in the Mediterranean region, which is one of the most important coastal regions in Turkey, between 1970 and 2021 were determined. Non-parametric Mann-Kendall test and Spearman's Rho tests as well as Innovative Trend Analysis (ITA) methods, which allow graphical interpretation of the results, were used in trend analysis. The slopes of the data were determined by using Sen's trend slope method. The results of the trend analysis showed that the wind speed values of the region are mostly in the decreasing trend, and the highest significant decreasing trend was observed in February, November and December.
