Abstract (EN)
Aim: In this study, it is aimed to compare the PCR results with the blood tests of all healthcare professionals who applied to Akdeniz University Hospital Family Medicine Department with the suspicion of COVID-19 infection, whose routine blood tests and simultaneous nasopharyngeal and oropharyngeal swabs, and to investigate the contribution of the results to the diagnosis of COVID-19. Material and Method: This research is a cross-sectional retrospective study in which the laboratory and PCR test results of 1041 personnel working at Akdeniz University were examined. The analysis is performed by SPSS 25.0 and the significance value is determined as 0,05. T-test is used to analyze the COVID-19 PCR positive and negative group measurements of participants. Chi-square test is performed to examine the differences in reference intervals according to the groups. ROC (Receiver-Operating Characteristic) analysis is used to evaluate the cut-off point and consistency of the measurements which found to be significant according to the COVID-19 PCR positivity status. AUROC (Area Under The Receiver Operating Characteristic) values are calculated in order to compare the ROC areas. Binary Logistic Regression analysis is applied to determine the risk factors of COVID-19 PCR positivity. In logistic regression analysis, risk factor and lower and upper limit values are calculated. Findings: The %30,6 of participants are male and %69,4 of them are female. The mean age of participants is 34,78±8,74. %78,5 of participants' COVID-19 PCR test result is negative and %21,5 of them is positive. The positivity rate is higher in male group (p=0,03) and older group (p=0,04). Leukocyte count, MCHC, platelet count, neutrophil percent, eosinophil percent, basophil percent, neutrophil count, lymphocyte count, eosinophil count, basophil count are low in the COVID-19 PCR positive group, while monocytes percent is high. BUN, CKD-EPI eGFR, aPTT, Cl were low in the COVID-19 PCR positive group; while ALT, AST, D-dimer, ferritin, LDH, sedimentation, troponin I are high. A decrease in the count of leukocytes, neutrophils, lymphocytes and an increase in the percentage of monocytes are significant for the diagnosis of COVID-19. Result: The results that will facilitate diagnosis were obtained by using only hemogram parameters with ROC analysis in healthcare personnels in the study. We deeply believe in that this study will guide the next studies in the future. The laboratory results should continue to be used alongside PCR and clinical tools for the diagnosis of COVID-19. It is important to consider the diagnostic contributions of these parameters because they are more accessible and applicable.
