Examination of intelligent building technology in terms of structural properties

The aim of this study is to mention factors introducing a current concept ?intelligent building?, definition of the concept, to show its relations with concepts of energy, ecology, sustainability as well as technological systems, to analyse infrastructure systems and support with examples.The environmental pollution and the global warming explained under the headline ?Design for Sustainable Future and Intelligent Buildings?. The terms energy, ecology, technology, sustainability are clarified and their relation with architectural design examined in this part. The terms smartness and intelligence are explained and the term ?intelligent building? covered with respect to past and development of it.Design characteristics and technological systems of intelligent buildings are analyzed in detail. Under this title, structure and its immediate surroundings design features, interior design features, automatic control systems, building automation systems and building management system are explained. Requirement of integration of all these infrastructures are mentioned.The study is supported with analyzing examples of intelligent buildings in the world and in Turkey. On the examined example; the data gained from the general information about intelligent buildings, the design features for structure and immediate surroundings, interior design features of structures and technological systems are cited on a table. Also detailed information is given on the table about the design, the structure system and the technological systems and comparisons of examples are made.
