Abstract (EN)
This study was planned and conducted to examine the relationship between acne vulgaris and nutrition, adherence to the Mediterranean diet, physical activity level, quality of life and depression level. 118 volunteers between the ages of 18-30 participated in the study. In this study, 59 individuals (51 women, 8 men) who applied to the Elazig Fethi Sekin City Hospital Dermatology Polyclinic and were diagnosed with acne vulgaris by the physician included the acne vulgaris group; 59 individuals (51 women, 8 men) who do not have acne vulgaris complaint constitute the group without acne vulgaris. The questionnaire form was applied to the participants by the researcher using the face-to-face interview technique. The questionnaire form consists of demographic and anthropometric characteristics of the participants, Mediterranean Diet Adherence Scale, Acne and Quality of Life Scale, Beck Depression Inventory and International Physical Activity Questionnaire (Short Form). While the mean age of individuals with acne vulgaris is 21.27±3.27, the mean age of individuals without acne vulgaris is 21.69±.3.09. Mediterranean Diet Adherence Scale total score average; While it was 5.31±1.70 in individuals with acne vulgaris, it was 6.63±1.82 in individuals without acne vulgaris (p<0.05). While the Beck Depression Inventory mean score of individuals with acne vulgaris was 11.69±9.45, it was found to be 8.14±6.37 for individuals without acne vulgaris (p<0.05). While the mean MET values of individuals in the group with acne vulgaris were 1285.33±1384.48; The mean MET values of individuals in the non-acne vulgaris group were found to be 1621.77±1369.30 (p<0.05). At the end of the study, it was concluded that nutrition and adherence to the Mediterranean Diet were associated with acne vulgaris. It has also been observed that acne vulgaris triggers depression and reduces the quality of life.
